Signe got pink eye this morning, so I took her to Iinan Hostipal. I might get it around tomorrow, too, since pink eye is highly contagious. Actually, I have been feeling like a cold is coming since last night. Anyway, aside from this morning nothing too exciting happened today. I have been down in the dumps recently, so I want to get better soon!

  • Yikes. The last time I can remember somebody near me getting pinkeye was a classmate in kindergarten. Hope you both get better soon!

..Is it really called pink eye over there, or is there a more general term for it? Mind in the gutter(hur hur pinkku), bad kanji skills, and all that. Playing SRW Alpha 3 has just made me memorize the character shapes of the spell kanji instead of learning them. :(
    • Pink Eye is called "ketsumakuen" in Japanese. "Ketsu" means to join and "maku" means membrane, so "ketsumaku" is the conjunctiva, or white part of the eye. "En" means inflammation, so "ketsumakuen"means inflammation of the conjunctiva, or conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye.

Noone I told yesterday knew it was called pink eye. Japanese medical terms are all very literal, there is no common vs. medical lingo seperation.
      • arg! At least tell people I didn't have the infectious kind. For those who care, I'm fine and it was only a bacterial infection. Probably an eyelash fell in my eye and was caught there throughout the night. All better now.
