the Trev Report (11/26/2002)

Hello all and welcome once again to your monthly dose of Trevor Menagh!
Ah, the Trev Report, where you find out all the fun and exciting stuff
going on in my silly little live, and now on to the report!

Trev's Lovelife
Signe and I are doing really well. We aren't going to do anything for
Thanksgiving, since Signe is working, Dad (who has recently moved up to
Sunnyvale) is visiting my cousin JoJo in Bend, OR, and I'm doing
nothing! If you want to hang out, party at my place this weekend (but
not really).

Trev's Work
Work is going well. RedOctane ( is full of really
good people and it is a nice environment to work in, even though the
pay is very low. I am still looking for other work out there in
computer science. I get about 1 or 2 interviews every couple weeks,
which is still nice, although they usually don't go anywhere. Signe and
I are working on our future plans, more news on that as it develops.

Trev's Anime
FanimeCon ( is coming along well. I am in charge of
the American Guests of Honor and I have gotten a lot of cool people
including the voice actress of Lynn Minmei in Robotech, Reba West. Go
The Nov. No-Name ( meeting went really well it was
out 9th anniversary meeting so we gave away a ton of prizes and had cake
and soda as well! There is no Dec. meeting since we couldn't get the
room, but we will be back in Jan.
I haven't been watching much lately. I finished Tenchi in Tokyo, and
the next anime in my NetFlix ( queue is Gasaraki, so I
am looking forward to watching that, as well as a few other titles I
have borrowed from various people.

Trev's DDR
Signe and I are still playing away. We are working on both USA and
Konamix now, but I really hate how strict the grading is on Konamix!
The only way to get an A is the get all perfects and greats. Anyway, we
are still loving it. It is really fun playing it in the arcade too! We
just played a round at the Capitol Century 16, which has a 7th Mix
machine in it's arcade.

trv no go
Still playing in (, my user name is
jumex, I will play anything with anyone, so come and challenge me! I
have been studying my "Learn To Play Go" books by the great Go master
Janice Kim ( as well, that is a great series.

Trev's Computers
The computer is working seamlessly, I couldn't ask for any better.
Although the only things we do on it are use Quicken, check email, surf
the web, write letters, and sometimes I work on small programming
projects, so it doesn't take too much abuse.

Trev's D&D
The campaign is going well, albeit slow. We are working are way though
a goblin-invested mine right now. No big progress as of yet. I need to
start working on my adventure soon too.

Trev's Car
The oh-so-rad 1993 Mercedes Benz 190E 2.6 is doing great (although I
don't get to drive it much, sniff). I take the Light Rail
( to work everyday. It gives me time to read...

Trev's Books
I am almost through with "The Hobbit" by J.R.R. Tolkien. I have been
inspired to read LotR since watching Kelly's copy of the extended
version of the movie, which was really cool.
I am also about halfway though "The Peoples History of the United
States" by Howard Zinn. I completely love that book; I suggest it to
any fan of history. I am currently reading about the Labor Movement in
the 1880s and 1890s. It is fascinating how much is left out of the main
stream history books.

Trev's Movies
Well, we have watched a bunch of movies this month (Signe working at a
theatre is quite a perk). I really liked the Harry Potter movie
(Chamber of Secrets), although it felt a little rushed (2 hours and 49
minutes when really fan). I am a fan of the books though, so I am bias.
We also just watched the latest 007 movie. I usually like Bond films,
but this one was just bad. I didn't like it very much and it was too
long. Oh well, to each their own.

Trev's Friends
Matt Dunn came down the other day for dinner after months of not seeing
him. We were glad to hang out again, it had been too long, he has his
car down here now too.
Judy and Kel ( are busily rushing to complete
their LotR costumes for a costume contest coming up.
Fanime's Dealer Dave also came over the other day to hang out and do
stuff and a good time was had by all as we watched "Mystery Men" and
ate In-N-Out.
Paul Fromberg is having a get-together this weekend as well at his
place and I am thinking about going to that with Signe, we will see.
Many must come and hang out, for it is fun!

Well, that is about it for this edition of the Trev Report. I love
hearing from you all, so send me a line sometime and you can hear all
about me and my current Michael Whelan (
obsession (he rocks) and my addiction to 8-bit Theatre
( thanks to Alex.

Take care,
