the Trev Report (03/07/2003)

Hello everybody and welcome once again to your monthly Trev Report!
Before we start I want to ask everyone to ask everyone else to sign up
to the Trev Report by sending a BLANK message to
or by signing up at I thought it would be
good to spread the word, and I think some of the email addresses I have
for people are too old now. Now without further ado, no with the news!

Trev's Lovelife
Signe is doing well. Well, she is doing OK. Her theater shut down and
now she is out of work, so if you have any connections or can help her
out, do it! She is on the job hunt as we speak, and we all know how
hard a road that is. So all your help is appreciated. Her email address
is, you can email her with your support and advice.

Trev's Birthday
So, my birthday was on the 2nd of March and it was way awesome! Signe
threw me a surprise birthday party on the 1st, and I really was
surprised! A lot of people were there: Tras and Lisa, the stitchin'
babes (, the guys for the 815 (you guys need a
website), Danielle and Johan, Dealer Dave, Ed and Richard from No-Name,
even my Dad showed up; it was a real blast!
So for my birthday I got a few cool things: a kneeling chair, a couple
DVDs, a Swatch skin watch, and some books. It was a good 26th birthday
for me. :D

Trev's Work
Still making $12/hr. The job is going well. Things are nice and easy
here at RedOctane ( The people are nice, the job is
laid back, and everything always comes together pretty well. I can't
complain too much, although the money is getting tighter these days.

Trev's Anime
I just got an old Lupin movie with a gift certificate the stitchin'
babes gave me, so I am excited about watching that. I haven't seen too
much anime in the past month, although I keep meaning to. I've just
been doing too much other stuff, and it has fallen to the background
(although it is always in the background, it won't go away).
Fanime ( is going well. We have all our guests
confirmed now; the fan panelists are slow to reply, so we have given
them a deadline to get their stuff into us to us (I am the panels
director for Fanime).
No-Name ( is coming along well too. I always seem to
finish up the newsletter (with Robert Loo) just in time, and the club
is running like a well-oiled machine.

Trev's Games
Signe and I are both on the last disc of "Chrono Cross," so we should
be finishing that up soon. I just bought "Final Fantasy VII" too, so we
will be starting that up soon as well (the strategy guide was more
expensive than the used game). I've been playing a little "Wild 9" too,
which is a great game that Dealer Dave is letting me barrow.
We are both still playing DDR, but not as often these days. It is a
great workout though.
As for board games, we have been playing a lot of "Settlers of Catan"
with everyone we meet. Man I love that game. I found a version for
GNOME ( called Gnocatan (, but I
haven't gotten it to compile yet. Mike Chu ( also
introduced Signe and I to a game called "Empire Builder" which is a
great railroad building game. It is totally rad!

Trev's Computers
So, we now have a cool corner cabinet for my Debian (
box (Ninamori) which is up and working great. It is sharing my network
with our Win2k box (Kitsurubami, anyone that gets the connection gets a
cookie). I have X ( up and working with Sawfish
( and GNOME ( running on it. I am
using Phoenix 0.5 (http:// as a web browser
and Sylpheed ( as my mail client. I have OpenOffice
( installed as well, with gaim (
as my IM program and the great BitchX ( as my IRC
client. I also use chbk ( to randomize my
background images. I am having quite a lot of fun playing with my
system. I want to get into DirectFB ( to get it to
work with my nVidia card, because that is some neat stuff, especially
DirectVNC ( I am going to look into other
programming stuff too; it wouldn't hurt to hone my skills. In any case
I'm really enjoying playing around.

Well that's about it for this short edition of the Trev Report. I will
see you all next month!
